The Least Restrictive Environment Coalition
The Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) Coalition was formed in 1999 by seventeen organizations that advocate on behalf of individual children with disabilities and their families with the New York City Board of Education, the New York State Education Department, and the United States Department of Education to enforce the requirement of federal and New York law that every child be educated in his/her LRE. The Coalition seeks to insure that, whenever appropriate, students with disabilities are provided with the supports, services, and accommodations they need to progress in the general education curriculum in general education classes in their neighborhood schools. Coalition staff research and report on LRE issues and implementation, maintain an interactive website and conduct workshops with parents and community groups.

New York Families For Autistic Children
NYFAC was established to assist families in accessing the best possible information, support, and to give families a place to work out the huge emotional weight a diagnosis of Autism can have on a family. Within this site we will try to provide you with the most current links to information on developmental disabilities.
